1881 Eliasberg. NGC graded Proof 65. Mottled golden brown iridescent toning mixed with very pale magenta and blue, just the same as it looked in April 1997, when the Eliasberg coins hit the auction block (this coin was Lot 2350). For an interesting commentary seldom seen, reread Bowers' comments (after Eliasberg Lot 2348) on the Proof-coin speculative craze of 1879-1880. How little mankind changes over the years. This is a naturally toned gem which should appeal greatly to those in the know about the rarity of this world-class series of American dollars.
