Celestial Map Northern Hemisphere Abrureichung von Herrn I. Bode. Abreichung von Herrn I. Bode. C. 1787. 26 x 28½". Johann Elert Bode served as director of the observatory at the Berlin Academy of Sciences for almost 40 years. As director, he edited the Astronomisches Jahrbook for fifty years and published many popular astronomy texts.
Four professional paper repairs on right edge, one extends 1" into map; three repairs along right edge only affect margin; three repairs along bottom edge, one just touches bottom of image. All repairs very well done and almost invisible recto. Rough edges, particularly along right side, which shows very little margin. Surface soil recto; some toning to edges; scattered light foxing. Brilliant later colors. Good to very good condition.
