Lot 1934

Bud E. Anderson's Jungle Oddities And 3 Ring Circus. [c. 1939], 28 x 42 in. Lithograph. Featuring a lion at center, surrounded by an elephant, a zebra, and a dog, with their trainer, performing various tricks. As was often the practice, the poster was reconstructed by cutting off the name of an earlier circus, in this case Tom Mix Circus (1935-38) and pasting on a new name tag. Additionally, "America's Newest And Different Big Show," is pasted over "Tom Mix Himself and Tony will positively appear at each performance." Jungle Oddities toured with Bud E. Anderson 1939-41; since the poster states that this is their "First Tour With American Circus," the date of the poster is probably 1939. Condition: B. A few small fold tears; some tears and paper loss in upper border, not affecting image; only one 1¾ in. tear at top center reaches into the background; one tape remnant on verso of top corner. An excellent litho.
Estimated Value $500 - 750.
