Lot 1240

Jamestown Tercentenniel Exposition, 1607-1907. A Fine Exposition Medal in Gilt Bronze. The obverse bears an exceptional, sensitive bust of Pocahontas, with feathers in hair, a skin cloak, and claw necklace. The back shows ships in the landing expedition of Captain John Smith. Medal virtually pristine, with abundant mint luster. Rare in the gilt version, even more so when accompanied by the original government-issued paper envelope. Along with this, a rolled Lincoln penny (1910) commemorating Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as 32nd President, and his New Deal and other projects of 1934. Plus two souvenir "rolled pennies" depicting "Standing Rock," of Wisconsin's natural wonder, The Dells. These were actually struck this way, imitating a rolled out Indian cent, even though they were still made in the early 20th century. One pristine, the second less so. A nice little lot of exonoumia.
Estimated Value $150 - 250.
