Memorabilia Relating to the 28th Presidency of the United States. U.S., c. 1912-1921. The first that of the 1912 Republican presidential candidate, William H.Taft, and vice-presidential running mate, J.S. Sherman. Their full color portraits in oval shields, flanked by U.S. flags and eagle, and framed by mauve roses, along with further floral frame, in gold, along plate's rim. This 8-1/4" plate, made by Sterling China Company of Sebring, Ohio, is nicely preserved. The second, a larger decorative or serving plate, with gold and pink-edged border. Within, portraits of all U.S presidents from Washington up to Wilson. Their likenesses in neat transfer prints in black or dark umber. Aside from some wear to outer edging of gold, plate in choice condition. Plate by Victoria, Austria. Width: 11-5/8". Lot of 2.
