(Lincoln, Abraham). April 15, 1865 copy of The New York Times, with black, mourning borders and a front-page headline, "AWFUL EVENT. President Lincoln Shot by an Assassin." The story takes up 2+ columns. It gives the known details of the attack and also reports on the attempted assassination of Secretary of State Seward; the last paragraph begins, "The President is reported dead." Light toning and foxing and a couple of tears. Very attractively matted and framed to 25" x 19½".
