Commodus, 177-192 AD. AR Denarius, Rome, struck 191-192 AD. Bearded bust of Commodus right, as Hercules, clad in lion's skin. Reverse: Inscription in the three lines: HERCVL / ROMAN / AVGV, flanking upright club, all within wreath. RIC 251; BMCRE 339. Reverse legend a trifle weak in spots. Very Fine plus.
