Ancient Greece. Lot of Eight AR Coins, Mostly Tetradrachms, c. 330-83 BC. Earliest tetradrachm is of Alexander III, of Macedon, 336-323 BC., attractive style Babylon issue, struck c. 317-311 BC.: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion's skin / Zeus enthroned left (cf. Price 3747): plus an Alexander-type drachm of Philip III (SNG Cop. 1088). Also Macedon, Under Roman Rule, after 168 BC.: Head of Artemis right / Club with wreath (SNG Cop. 1310). Plus a Drachm of Istrus, Moesia, 4th century BC.: Two facing heads, right inverted / Sea eagle and dolphin left, Δ(?) on reverse. And more tetradrachms, starting with Athens, c. 325-275 BC.: Helmeted head of Athena right / Owl (SNG Cop 63); plus a "New Style" Tetradrachm, c. 124/123 BC.: Dioscuri symbol on reverse (SNG Cop 270). Also, Mysia, Pergamon, a Cistophoric Tetradrachm of 1st century BC.: Cista Mystica / Snakes, KA above (BMC p. 125, 112). And last, from Egypt, Ptolemy XII, 80-58 BC., dated 73/72 BC.: Ptolemy I's diademed head right / Eagle left (SGC 7945). Coins with various tones. Istrus and Philip III with porosity. Roman Macedon with minute ancient scratches. Ptolemy toned, with patch of roughness on reverse. Lot of 8 pieces. Coins range from Fine to Very Fine, one a tad better.
