Persis Kingdom. Ardeshir III, c. 100-150 AD. AR Hemidrachm (1.40 g). Unique?At the least, a very rare variety. Should be of considerable interest to collectors of this series. Bearded and draped bust of king left, wearing diadem and crenellated crown. Reverse: Draped, beardless(?) diademed bust left, with rays above head, legend around. Alram --; Mitchiner --; but cf. a unique(?) drachm in the British Museum, BMC p. 240, 1, also wearing crown. Obverse with finely styled, detailed portrait for series. Lightly toned, with some residual luster. Extremely Fine.
