Lot 1875

Silver Birmingham Dog Show Spoons. 1932, Birmingham, England. Six dainty spoons topped with a small dog's head, one butter knife with the same image and one commemorative spoon with a round finial portraying the goddess of the show and the caption "The National Dog Show / Birmingham." The commemorative spoon has a slightly different design, but works well as the centerpiece to the other items. Presented in their original black leather case with satin lining. Gentle wear to all of the pieces and some tarnish; there is surface soil in and on the case, some loss of the leather at the corners and a circular abrasion. Overall, very good condition. Obviously used only on special occasions.

Such a lovely offering, these exotic and (increasingly) scarce commemorative items always draw admiring glances. We have not seen a similar pattern and dog fanciers are sure to be captivated by the delicate set.
Estimated Value $250 - 400.
