1873-S Liberty Seated Half Dime. PCGS graded MS-64. Satiny gold in color, with abundant luster in the fields. This is the final year of issue, when Wharton's nickel finally sent this denomination packing, after 7 years of production of both 5 cent nickel coins and half dimes. Starting in 1874, only "nickels" were produced.
Estimated Value $300 - 350.
From the Benson collection and purchased from an unknown source for $1.50 around 1945.
