LIFE Magazine, one of the most popular magazines in American publishing history was given incredible access to NASA. In 1959, LIFE elevated the stature of the Original Seven, Group 1, Mercury 7 Astronauts by having them on the Sept. 14, 1959 cover. One week later, seated exactly the same were the wives. These two issues were featured in the film THE RIGHT STUFF in the not so subtle campaign to win the American public over with the stories of these 7. Both in excellent condition. The balance of the collection all involve Apollo 11 and the moon landing. Also included is a Time magazine on the moon landing and two issues regarding the Columbia disaster.
