(Kennedy, Robert F.) Seven 8 x 10" Photographs of RFK Attending a Rhode Island Citizen's Committee Dinner in 1965. Seven double-weight, 8 x 10" black and white photographs, each including Robert F. Kennedy (1923-68), who had served as U.S. Attorney General from January 1961 to September 1964, and was a newly-elected U.S. senator from New York at the time of the April 24, 1965 dinner given by the Rhode Island Citizens' Committee. The honoree was Congressman John E. Fogarty (1913-67), who represented Rhode Island's 2nd District in the United States House of Representatives for 26 years, from 1941 until his death. RFK and Fogarty are in all of the photos, along with other people who attended the dinner. Fogarty was from an Irish family. He worked across the aisle to promote health care and became known as "Mr. Public Health" for his dedication to federal support for medical research and a broad range of health programs. In 1964 he received the Joseph P. Kennedy, Jr. Foundation award, and used the proceeds to establish the John E. Fogarty Foundation for the Mentally Retarded. Estimated Value $600 - UP
