Manson, Charles Milles. "Untitled". (1934-2017) American criminal, cult leader and emblem of insanity, violence, and the macabre. Manson also became a pop culture touchstone for 50 years through books, music and film which continues even today with ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD. But another aspect of Manson is that he was an artist and painted while incarcerated (sometimes referred to as death row art) Offered is one of his works and by far it is one of the most complex and arresting pieces ever offered for auction. This is a fever dream, a free association of abstract colors shapes and themes that are executed in such miniscule detail that it becomes as compelling as it is dizzying. Acrylic on panel, 18 x 24". Manson has signed his name in lower right along the body of either green dinosaur. He has also signed on verso with his signature scripted then followed with his fingerprints smudged just above his name in green. Superior condition, with the inexpensive black wood frame having a couple of chips. The painting comes from the private collection of Jonathan Shaw renowned counter-culture opinion maker, author, and artist dubbed by Iggy Pop as "The great nightmare anti-hero of the new age." The painting. Estimated Value $18,500 - UP
