1895. PCGS graded Proof 62. CAC. PQ. Certainly should be Proof 63. Lovely antique gold toning on the obverse, the reverse a beautiful array of blue and russet shades. Exquisite colors to satisfy any advanced collector! The strike is needle sharp as expected for a proof, with fully brilliant and reflective fields, satiny mint frost on the devices. The year 1895 in Morgan dollars has long been known as the toughest to obtain, with the Philadelphia coinage earning the moniker "The King of the Morgans" for its legendary rarity. Only 880 pieces were struck in Proof. Business strikes although reported, have never been found. In order to get a truly complete set of Morgan silver dollars, therefore must include one of these rare Proofs of 1895. Precious few of these are offered from one year to the next, and collectors far and wide have this date at the top of their want lists. Thus, when a stunningly beautiful example like this appears, we anticipate considerable competition. Recently graded by PCGS.

The surfaces are outstanding, with fully brilliant and reflective fields and satiny frost on the devices. There are no surface issues and the grading was extremely conservative on this coin. A most handsome example of this most famous of the Morgan dollars (PCGS # 7330) Estimated Value $45,000 - UP
