Lot 634

1824. Overton-104, Rarity 2. PCGS graded MS-65. CAC. PQ. A lovely example that is likely the very finest known and the only CAC example of the trio of MS65 examples known from these dies. The strike is glorious, with full curls on Liberty, the stars mostly sharp too. For the reverse the eagle's feathers are all bold, and the lettering crisp and sharp. The surfaces are stunning, truly a quantum leap above the typical lower grade seen. Notice the satin freshness of the fields, free of distracting marks, with luster intact and not limited by careless handling over the last nearly 200 years. A towering example with a fantastic pedigree that is nearly as old as the coin itself. Pop 1; tied for the finest examples graded at both services for the variety. (PCGS # 39624) Estimated Value $15,000 - UP
Ex Eliasberg Collection; Ex Link Collection.
