Lot 376

1857 C-1 R2 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Frosty light olive and steel brown with 5-10% of the planchet showing original mint red. The surfaces are lustrous and the only notable marks are a small puff of darker toning at the dentils under star 1 and another spot in the dentils over the I in AMERICA. MDS with fine radial die flowlines in the fields on both sides. Many of the dentils are poorly struck and the coronet over LIB is a bit weakly struck as well, both being typical for this date. Our grade is MS60. PCGS #1239. Pop 123; 83 graded higher at PCGS for MSBN. Estimated Value $450 - UP
