1868 Pattern Ten Cents. Nickel, plain edge. Judd-647. Pollock-720. Low Rarity 6. PCGS graded Proof 66. CAC. PQ. Here is another example of this popular pattern issue which employs the Large Cent design of 1853-57 on a new nickel based planchet instead of copper. The date 1868 below of course, and no doubt a coin that would have caused confusion had it been issued for circulation. The reverse design shows an open wreath as opposed to the continuous wreath used on circulation Large cents up until 1857. This pattern wreath is tied with a delicate ribbon and states TEN / CENTS within the wreath, and legends surround. A nice example, solid for the grade and free of detracting specks or uneven toning, just right and pleasing in every way. Furthermore this is one of the finer examples known! Don't miss out from a chance to choose from two outstanding examples of this sought after pattern. Pop 2; 4 finer, 1 in 66+, 2 in 67, 1 in 67+. (PCGS # 60865) Estimated Value $6,000 - UP
