Lot 192

1795. NGC graded MS-64. Nicely toned with deeper blue and gold on both sides, handsomely arranged by time and nature. The strike is exceptionally bold, with each hair strand on Liberty bold, as well as the eagle's feathers. Quite extraordinary for a half dime of the first large group coined by the Mint in Philadelphia. The surfaces are super clean and show only a few microscopic signs of handling. Lustrous and flashy withint the protected areas where the toning allows the light to bounce back. This type coin was issued only for about a year, dated both 1794 and 1795, the Flowing Hair half dimes are a true rarity for collectors to find in grades even approaching this amazing MS-64 coin. The A popular type coin. Only 86,416 struck. Pop 32; 21 finer at NGC. Estimated Value $15,000 - UP
