Lot 565

1822 N-14 R6+ PCGS VG Details, Environmental Damage. Rather glossy medium brown and darker chocolate brown, but the surfaces under the toning are lightly eroded. No verdigris and the only mark is a rather large planchet flake in the hair over BE in LIBERTY. The date is bold and the legends are clear. This cent has decent eye appeal in spite of the imperfect surfaces. One of 14 known of this die variety, and most of those are in very low grade (the finest is F12). Our grade is net G6. The variety combines the obverse of 1822 N-7, 8, 12, & 13 with the reverse of 1821 N-1, and the die marriage was quite brief. A key to completing a collection of middle date large cents (1816-1839). The attribution and Widok Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label (PCGS # 36751) Value $15,000 - UP
Discovered unattributed by Rod Widok at the Michigan State Numismatic Society show 4/23/2013-The Widok Collection.

Realized $8,700
