Lot 224

1824 N-3 R2. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Choice lustrous light olive and steel. Faint hints of underlying mint color can be found in a couple places on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers this cent and the eye appeal is outstanding. The only marks, and it takes a strong glass to find them, are a faint spot of extremely fine carbon below the ear lobe and another even smaller one between the date and star 1. LDS with flowlines in the fields and very fine die rust showing on the face and neck. Graded MS60 (way too harsh) and tied for CC#3 in the Noyes census, his photo #27552. Our grade is MS63. A wonderful 1824 cent, and it comes with an important provenance. The attribution and Great Pacific Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; none finer. (PCGS # 36772) Value $5,000 - UP
