Lot 1036

1800. NGC graded MS-65. Wonderful even silver gray toning on both sides. Boldly struck on each of the devices, with full definition on Liberty's hair and the reverse is sharp throughout as well. Clean surfaces as expected for the gem grade level and a simply outstanding example of this issue. The fields are free of all but the most minute sighs on contact, and the full dentils serve to frame the designs with perfect centering. Minor signs of die clashing in the field, commonly seen on this issue, and the usual minor die chip is found below the 00 of the date on the rim, most examples from these dies show this feature. An important and desirable offering. Only 24,000 struck. Pop 8; 3 finer, 2 in 66, 1 in 67. Value $25,000 - UP
