Lot 23

1817 N-9 R2 EF40. Slightly sharper but there are some rim nicks on the obverse, the strongest of these at star 1. Otherwise this piece is quite attractive and it has the eye appeal of a higher grade. Glossy chocolate and steel blending to olive in protected areas. Satiny mint frost covers the protected areas on both sides. Sharply struck E-MDS showing minor die flowlines but no trace of the "Mouse" break on top of the head. The sharp, nearly vertical die lines at the throat and right foot of the first 1 are still clear and the dentils are crisp on both sides. Another attractive, lightly worn cent. Estimate Value $350 - UP
Ex Tom Wolf 4/1972-Ed Jasper, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Goldbergs 1/29/2012:378-The Westwood Collection (includes the Jasper collection envelope and Goldberg lot ticket).

Realized $252
