Lot 907

1854. Arrows. NGC graded MS-67. Most of these new style Arrows half dimes were struck with old tenor silver coins sent up to Philadelphia from New Orleans, these older coins had a slightly higher silver content, and thus many were melted for the profit, others returned to the mints for recoinage. Not many were saved at the time, as even a half dime represented a fair amount of money in 1854. This one was not only saved, but carefully and perfectly preserved to this day. Boldly struck and fully white. Pop 4; tied for the finest examples graded at both services. Estimate Value $7,000 - UP
