Lot 486

1851 N-33 R4 NGC graded MS62 Brown. Lustrous medium steel brown and light chocolate with peeps of mellowed mint red showing on both sides. The eye appeal of this cent is excellent and the surfaces look flawless to the unaided eye, but a strong glass reveals a fine hairline scratch from the nose to the neck and several very faint hairline scratches inside the wreath. E-MDS, die state a late. The repunching below the left half of the base of the first 1 is dull but visible and finer repunching shows along the base and under the peak of that 1. Our grade is net AU58, second finest for the die state in the Grellman census. Estimate Value $275 - UP

Realized $510
