Sasanian Kingdom. Shapur II. Gold Dinar (7.18 g), AD 309-379. Sind. Bust of Shapur II right, wearing mural crown with korymbos; star to right erased from die, but still faint). Reverse: Fire altar with ribbons. Cf. SNS III pl. 145, C1-C2; cf. MK 1352; cf. Paruck 253; Sunrise 860-1. Rare. Very unusual and the first example we have handled. Probably over-struck on an earlier issue. Pleasing surfaces and problem-free. Very Fine. Estimate Value $1,500 - 2,000
