Lot 182

1794 S-58 R3 VG7. Sharpness near F12 but covered with tiny contact marks and microscopic roughness. The only notable marks are a dull nick or dent on the ear and a very fine scratch that arcs from behind the head down through the cap, and the scratch fades away before reaching the bottom of the cap. Rather glossy medium brown mottled with light reddish chocolate and olive brown. Struck 15% off center to K-12. The date is clear and the legends that made it to the planchet are all readable. The die state is undetermined. Noyes photo #57046. Another great mint error in this remarkable collection; essentially a redheaded twin to the preceding lot. What were the chances? Estimate Value $6,000 - UP
