U.S.S. Hornet Apollo 11 Recovery Crew Baseball Cap. From a crew member of the U.S.S. Hornet Apollo 11 recovery team baseball cap. The USS Hornet recovered the Apollo 11 astronauts after their Columbia Command Module splashed down in the Pacific Ocean on July 24, 1969. The Hornet is preserved as a museum in Alameda, California. Its main deck has space artifacts including an Apollo command module and the Mobile Quarantine Facility and worth a visit. Cap is in excellent condition exhibiting only light wear and is sized 7 1/8. It has affixed a button "Hornet Plus Three" no doubt addressing the crew plus the three astronauts Armstrong, Aldrin and Collins. Estimate Value $300 - UP
