In the Style of Edward Hopper -- Original Watercolor. Gas Pumps Contemporary watercolor in the style of the much-beloved American painter, Edward Hopper. In 1940, Hopper painted "Gas" a work of great power and immensely popular, given the iconic status of automobiles in America. An atmospheric portrait of a Mobil Gas Station and the lonely, isolated attendant on an anonymous street in an anonymous city. When one can't quite spring for the millions needed to buy an original Hopper, a well-executed homage does nicely. Here, very much mimicking the original masterwork on exhibit at MOMA, stand three gas pumps but with no attendant, but capturing the loneliness of a country road in mid-century America. Measuring 20 x 15" and newly framed to 22½ x 27½", this watercolor and gouache on paper boasts immense appeal and is in excellent condition. We do note one pump hose is sketched but not colored--not at all a distraction. Estimate Value $1,250 - UP
