Lot 29

1794 C-6a R5+ F15. Sharpness AU50 or better but covered with fine roughness. Uniform dark olive and steel. Has the look of a piece that was uncirculated when lost in an unfriendly environment for a period of time before being rescued. No verdigris, and the only marks are a tiny pinprick on the jaw and a nick on the left edge of the L in HALF. Usual die state with clashmarks on the obverse and a minor bulge in the field right of the date. Probably the sharpest example known of this very rare die variety; certainly sharper than the famous Missouri Cabinet piece that sold for $74,750 in our 1/26/2014 auction. Inspection recommended. Estimate Value $8,000 - UP

Unsold
