Lot 172

1855 C-1 R1 NGC graded MS66 Brown. Highly lustrous light olive and bluish steel brown with traces of faded mint color showing on both sides, particularly on the reverse. The surfaces are covered with satiny mint frost and this piece has outstanding eye appeal. No spots or stains. The only marks are a tiny tick on the jaw, another high on the neck, and two shallow planchet flakes in the dentils near OF (as struck). Otherwise this piece is a gem. E-MDS with microscopic die flowlines in the fields near the dentils. Many of the dentils on both sides are not well struck up, which is normal for this date. Our grade is MS64. The attribution is noted on the NGC label. Estimate Value $1,200 - UP
Ex Teletrade 11/2/2005-The Green Tree Collection.

Realized $1,380
