Lot 1305

1803. NGC graded MS-61. Jrr-3., Rarity-4. Only 33,040 struck. Pop 1; 1 finer in 63. Deep blue toning on both sides. This is an extraordinary coin as there are no more than four or five 1803 dimes that can claim Mnt State condition. These simply didn't survive without entering circulation. The strike is decent for this issue, with minor softness on the B of LIBERTY (opposite the eagle's tail), and a few other localized areas. Liberty's curls are generally sharp, as ewll as the definition on the eagle. An early die state for this variety.

Draped Bust dimes are one of the toughest series to collect. Nice examples of most dates are quite sparse, and assembling a high grade collection takes considerable patience. An important offering for the advanced numismatist who appreciates quality and eye appeal. Estimate Value $40,000 - UP
