Lot 564

1795. 2 leaves beneath each wing. B-13, BB-24, Rarity 5. PCGS graded EF-45. Light gold toning on both sides with a solid strike and excellent surfaces for the grade. It is quite hard to find these early Flowing Hair dollars this well preserved, as most stayed in circulation much longer and fall into lower grades today. Furthermore this coin offers better hair definition than that found on most other die pairings, and this fact should not be lost on any potential buyers. Similar on the reverse where the eagle shows good detail in his wing feathers. Shallow and light adjustment marks are noted through the eagle's neck into the right wing, these were of course, done at the mint to bring the planchet weight within the narrow tolerance required for a "dollar" of silver. While not a particularly rare die pairing, this one is scarce, and this example is solidly in the Condition Census. Some luster visible. Only 16,029 struck. Pop 3; 2 finer for the variety, 1 in 62, 1 in 65. (PCGS # 39989) Estimate Value $10,000 - 11,000

Realized $12,925
