Lot 1476

1930-S. PCGS graded UNC Details, Filed Rims. Looks like a choice uncirculated coin. Rare date that is in demand in all grades. This one has an outstanding appearance, but the rims show traces of filing where a few minor rim ticks were likely removed As the Depression of the 1930s began in late 1929, demand for double eagles must have waned at the San Francisco Mint, hence few were struck and all but a small group of 1930-S coins were eventually melted. This particular coin has a sharp die line in the field above the date, seen on several others struck with this same obverse die. Only 74,000 struck, with about 50 to 75 examples estimated to have survived according to PCGS Pop Report (PCGS # 9191) Estimate Value $25,000 - UP

Realized $63,156
