Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 100

Lot 1381

1907. High relief, Roman numerals, wire rim. NGC graded MS-64. CAC. PQ. This coin has a special look with fantastically smooth surfaces, mark free in appearance and the expected monumental strike. As we know, each high relief $20 was struck four to seven times, in order to bring up Augustus Saint-Gaudens majestic design. The end result is what you see here, arguably America's most beautiful coin. While these high relief coins survived in mint state grades, most of the examples seen don't have the complete depth seen here and lack the glorious quality of the surfaces present. A wonderful example that looks like a special strike. Make sure to view and study this coin before the sale, as the appearance of the strike and surfaces really set this one apart from the others seen of this issue. Always in demand and a regal jewel just waiting to be enjoyed. Only 12,367 struck. Estimate Value $20,000 - UP

Realized $29,375
