Goldberg Coins and Collectibles

Sale 1

Lot 294

Seated Liberty Quarter. 1841-O. ANACS graded MS-61. One of a small hoard which was found some years ago in New Orleans. It is thought that about 40 of this date turned up in 1982, which had been buried under the new Meridien Hotel in the foundation area. Most of the coinage was foreign, but a small handful of local New Orleans coinage was also found. All exhibit evidence of long storage in a damp climate, and have been cleaned. Now with a matte surface but no evidence of circulation. Medium toning and a truly rare date that would be otherwise unavailable to collectors in this grade.

Unsold
