Herod I (the Great), 40 B.C. - 4 A.D. AE 8 prutot. Tripod, ceremonial bowl above, date (year 3) and monogram in field. Reverse: Military helmet, facing, wreath around, cheek pieces and straps with star above flanked by two palm branches. Struck 40 A.D. Hen. 486; AJC II, 235, 1. Pleasing green patina with earthen highlights. Very Fine.
