Lot 64

1824/2 N-1 R1 Overdate 4 over 2 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Frosty light olive and steel brown with darker steel brown toning on the highpoints of the obverse. Faint hints of very faded mint color can be found in a few places. Satiny mint luster covers the fields and protected areas and this cent offers mint state eye appeal in spite of a faint touch of rub on the highest points of the portrait. The reverse looks mint state in every respect. No spots, stains, or notable marks. MDS with minor crumbling in the dentils at stars 3 & 4. The overdate feature is obvious to the unaided eye. A wonderful example of this popular overdate variety. Noyes photo #36311. Our grade is AU58. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 3 finer, 1 in 63+, 2 in 64 for the variety. PCGS #36778. Estimate Value $10,000 - UP
Ex Bowers & Merena 3/1998:264-Doug Bird 5/1998-Manuel Ahumada Collection.
