Lot 297

1816 N-5 R3 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Frosty olive and chocolate brown with underlying faded mint red covering at least 10% of the obverse and nearly a third of the reverse. Just a few trivial marks from choice. A tiny planchet clip that weakens two dentils under the 6 in the date is the best identifying mark. MDS. The fields show fine radial die flowlines but the center dot on the reverse is clear. Our grade is MS62. A very nice cent and it comes with an excellent provenance. The attribution and Naftzger-Heard provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; 1 finer in 65 for the variety. PCGS #36535. Estimate Value $1,500 - UP
