Lot 125

1832 N-1 R2 Medium Letters PCGS graded MS64+ Red & Brown, CAC Approved. Glossy medium brown and light chocolate with and slightly darker steel brown toning on the cheek. Frosty mint red covers about 15% of both sides. The fields and protected areas are lustrous and this cent offers excellent eye appeal. The only marks, and they are trivial, are a spot of darker toning at the leaf tip under TA in STATES and some weakness in the dentils under the end of the wreath stem (caused by a tiny planchet crease, as struck). MDS. The fields show fine radial die flowlines and the die lines under the right foot of the first A in AMERICA are dull but visible. Our grade is MS62+. The attribution and Ahumada provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; the only RB of the variety at both services. PCGS #37013. Estimate Value $2,000 - UP
Ex American Numismatic Rarities 12/6/2005:250-Manuel Ahumada Collection (includes the lot ticket).
