1852 N-8 R2. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. CAC Approved. Very attractive lustrous mint red mellowing to light steel brown on the highpoints with 75% of the red remaining. The only defects are faint traces of old fingerprints on the obverse, mostly at the bust tip, and a small diagonal nick in the field near the bun under star 8. MDS, die state b, with a faint die crack from the curl at star 13 down to the dentils below. This variety is often found in mint state, but not with this much original mint color. Our grade is MS65, tied for CC#1 honors in the Grellman census. The attribution and Ralls provenance are shown on the PCGS label. PCGS population 3; 2 finer, 1 in 65+, 1 in 66. (PCGS # 147251) .
