Lot 758

1829 N-6 R1 Large Letters. PCGS graded MS-63 Red & Brown. CAC Approved. Choice frosty mint red fading to steel brown with 15% of the red remaining on the obverse, 50% on the reverse. The surfaces are lustrous and the eye appeal of this cent is outstanding. Just a few trivial marks from flawless. The notable ones are a small spot of darker toning at the inner curl, traces of an old fingerprint above the head, and a spot of dark toning under the U in UNITED. Sharply struck EDS with crisp dentils and smooth fields on both sides. Called MS65 by Del Bland. Noyes graded this piece MS65 and had it as tied for CC#1 honors in his 1991 reference on the middle date cents, photo #24222. Our grade is MS63+. The attribution and Ralls provenance are shown on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer. The only example graded by PCGS for the variety. (PCGS # 36920) .
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.
