Lot 742

1825 N-2 R2. PCGS graded MS-63 Red & Brown. CAC Approved. Choice lustrous steel brown faded down from mint red with 25% of the red remaining on the obverse and 10% on the reverse. Satiny mint frost covers the entire planchet and the eye appeal of this piece is outstanding. The only defects, and they are barely visible, are a light but relatively fresh nick on the neck just left of the curl and faint traces of a fingerprint at stars 8-10. M-LDS. There is a fine die crack from the bust tip to the dentils left of the date and another slightly stronger die crack from the wreath ribbon and stem to the rim below. The cents of 1825 are especially difficult to find this nice, regardless of the die variety. Our grade is MS63+, close to MS64. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; 1 finer in 64+. (PCGS # 36788) .
Estimated Value $3,000-UP.
