1798 S-166 R1 Style II Hair, Large 8. PCGS graded AU-50. Glossy medium chocolate brown with lighter brown toning in protected areas. The obverse is mottled with darker olive brown toning. Essentially void of contact marks. A tiny rim nick at the C in AMERICA and a nick across that M are the best identifying marks. E-MDS, Breen state III early. A second die crack is starting to show inside the E in UNITED, and the first crack is strong. The reverse is rotated 35 degrees CCW. Called EF40 by Bland. Our grade is VF35. The attribution and Ralls provenance are shown on the PCGS label. Pop 2; 5 finer at PCGS for the variety. (PCGS # 36068) .
