1795 S-78 R1 Plain Edge. PCGS graded AU-50. Very attractive glossy light to medium chocolate brown with frosty lighter bluish steel brown toning in protected areas on the reverse. A perfect example for the grade, flawless in every respect except for a planchet flake on the top of the first T in STATES, as struck. E-MDS, Breen state II. There are fine die clashmarks on both sides but the tiny chip under the jaw has not formed. Called EF40 by Noyes and Bland, Noyes photo #23909. Our grade is EF40. The attribution and Ralls provenance are shown on the PCGS label. Pop 1; 5 finer at PCGS. (PCGS # 35729) .
