1795 S-74 R4- Lettered Edge. PCGS graded MS-63 Brown. Beautiful lustrous medium steel brown and chocolate. Hints of very faded mint color remain in a few of the protected areas on both sides. Satiny mint frost covers the planchet and the eye appeal is outstanding for the grade. This cent is flawless except for some microscopic planchet flakes on the upper part of the head and the opposing area at the bottom of the wreath, as struck. Sharply struck E-MDS, Breen state II. There is a new die crack through OF-A but the bulge at the 7 in the date has not started to form. Called MS60 and tied for CC#3 honors in the Noyes and Bland census lists, Noyes photo #22463. Our grade is MS63, consistent with the PCGS grade. The attribution and Ralls provenance are shown on the PCGS label. PCGS population 1; none finer. The only MS example graded by PCGS for the variety (PCGS # 35714) .
Estimated Value $15,000-UP.
