Lot 1724
1909. PCGS graded MS-65. Well struck with light golden toning. One would be hard pressed to locate a more pristine exemplary MS65 1909, even if one were known to either NGC or PCGS. The richly frosted, rotating golden surfaces, with their orange tinted perfection, make available a surge for the unhampered mint luster. No more than the luster comes a desirable strike. This piece is struck with scientific exactness throughout. Pop 182; 24 finer, 7 in 65+, 17 in 66 (PCGS # 7940) .
Pratt’s Indian design was a departure from its predecessors. Perhaps the most radical and innovative point on the Quarter Eagle was that it featured a naturalistic portrait of a Native American instead of an allegorical representation of Lady Liberty. Estimated Value $4,500 - 5,000.
