1936 Elgin Half Dollar. NGC graded MS-66. Most examples of this issue meet the MS65 or higher rating when certified. They were well executed and collectors seem to have admired them sufficiently that they took good care of them. Yet all the evidence from this piece shows that from tip to toe it is an superlative gem, definitely above average, with impressive mint brilliance over spotless, gleaming surfaces (PCGS # 9303) .
