Lot 1136

1886. Variety 1. PCGS graded Proof 65 Red. CAC Approved. Medium mirrors. Outstanding eye appeal and a very scarce date in full red. Opinion has it the Proof 1886 Variety 1 is slightly more rare than the Variety 2 from an absolute standpoint, high grade examples are rare, especially when the original mint luster is intact. Which leads to the main point: this richly colored Variety 1 is an attractive coin, one that displays a cheery full-red sheen whose color saturation deepens every so slightly around the reverse periphery. Both the strike and the surface preservation are worthy of a round of applause. Housed in an Old Green Holder. Only 4,290 struck. Pop 19; 12 finer in 66. (PCGS # 2347) Estimated Value $1,850 - 2,000

Realized $3,565
