Lot 1881

1907-D. PCGS graded MS-65+. Lovely even golden toning. A very nice example. Final year of the Liberty Head Type, and also the second year that coins were being minted at the newly established Denver, Colorado mint. A bright and gleaming gem whose cartwheel luster seems poised to detonate like a golden Fourth of July skyrocket, plus we find a touch of faint yellow-green toning, especially on the obverse. Sharply struck with full details on both sides. Definitely gem! Pop 4; 16 finer, 14 in 66, 1 in 66+, 1 in 67 (PCGS # 9053) .

Gold type collectors who desire an example of Liberty Double Eagle production in the Denver Mint typically choose an example of the 1907-D. This is the second of only two D-mint issues in this series, and it is a bit more obtainable than the first-year 1906-D. We caution bidders, however, that the '07-D becomes quite expensive in grades above MS-65.
Estimated Value $3,500 - 3,800.

Realized $9,775
